If you ever moved to Coeur d'Alene ID...

We have officially lived in Coeur d'Alene for a month...ONE WHOLE MONTH. Seems like a lifetime yet not really. Here are a few things that have been fun (a couple not so fun) to discover over the last 31 days. Disclaimer there are a plethora of pictures.

The traffic lights change in a heart beat. Literally. I have never ran so many traffic lights in my life. So beware.

There was so much smoke the first couple weeks it made going out hard. Not impossible but hard. Just a little idea of what we were dealing with.

Now time for all the fun things we have been discovering!

Farmers Markets are a big deal! They have one one Wednesday night for those of us who work weekends AND one on Saturday morning. I ate the most delicious cantaloupe after our first outing! YUM! Joy and I went to the one in Hayden that is held on Saturdays and it had a little more to offer. People where selling everything from homemade jam to homemade rocking chairs. It was great. Since we have a ridiculous love for jalapeños we both ended up buying huckleberry jalapeños jam. It was spicy but totally worth it.

Two words, Dog Parks. They are every where! E-V-E-R-Y W-H-E-R-E. If you have a dog that isn't an arrogant turd (Tucker) and they like to play with other dogs they will LOVE IT! As well as you. Because they make the human park just as fun. See next point...

There is a wonderful downtown park. It has everything from a splash pad for the little kids, basketball and tennis court to the older kids, and picnic and grassy areas for those of us who are to mature for the childish things ;) Second thing I love about this park is the Centennial trail runs right through it. Every time I go on a ride I get to drive through this really pretty park.

I mentioned the Centennial trail. By far my most favorite part of living here. I have got to go on both runs and bike rides by the Spokane River and around part of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Truly it is a blessing to live so near to the trail. Not only do we live right next to the trail but right across the street from us is the Spokane River. I like to take Tucker on walks by the river and through this cute/quiet neighborhood.

The Spokane River. Right across the street from our house.

So completely blessed to be in another place that has such amazing views! Another sight I have loved seeing is the farm houses and fields lined right up with the mountains. It is like God created this place just for me. I know He didn't but it sure feels like He combined the two worlds I love. See below to get what I am saying.

Silverwood. That is all I have to say. Just kidding I do have one thing to say. I did go on a ride that was completely out of character for me but I figured new life time to changes things up. The ride was Spin Cycle. Look it up. I couldn't take pictures because I was on my death bed.

In line for Tremors

Last but certainly not least is the familiarity of our teenage years. We grew up with Sharis Restaurant and we have missed it. We spent many cheap dates having pie and coffee at all hours of the day and night. We wanted to go out so I called up my AMAZING sister in law and told her to invite people to come to Sharis because we want to break out and start meeting people. If you know me that is not something that comes naturally but I have to push myself. So we went and had a great time.

I hope to make many more discoveries and memories in the months to come! Cheers Coeur d'Alene.

  1. Hi, I didn't know you had a blog, but I'm glad you do. This post covers a lot of what's great about CDA! Good news is... there is a lot more! I'm really glad you two are here. It's been awesome hanging a bit and being friends.

Tonight my heart is heavy. Crushed. Grieved. Angry. Our community lost a 7th grade girl several days ago to suicide. 7th grade. Suicide. Hard to read? Hard to imagine? Yeah, me too. I did not know Isis Paulsen. But we just sat with some students who did. Students who don't have words for what is going on around them. Students who want answers. Students who are dealing with things that I as an almost 28 year old adult don't even know how to deal with. All you want to do is take that pain away from them. From Isis. Hug them so tight that it squeezes all the darkness out. But we can't. We can be there for them. We can listen to them. We don't have to fix this. We just have to be present. Listen. Let me tell you a few things I learned tonight about middle school students 1. They are ready to make things different for the future. They are already thinking about how to not let this happen to future generations. One student asked "How do we make sure this doesn...

New Year, New Me?

How about New Year, Better Me. How about New Year, Less of Me. How about New Year, more Jesus. I am how I am. I believe I was created with my personality because God wants to use me. I don't think He wants the nasty parts of me (I know, shocker, I am nasty), He wants for me to be better, to be great.  We were driving home from my parents house a few nights ago and Levi asked me if I had anything I had planed, goal wise, for 2016. I jokingly said "to survive." Okay maybe that isn't a complete joke. But really, I shared with him how since we moved I have felt an overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit and I didn't want to lose that. I wanted to continue my devotionals and experience God in new ways. We both also talked about how we liked this path we were going to down of having less stuff. Since we decided to move we have been getting rid of things we have no use for. A majority of that was when we had to move our whole apartment into a 5X10 storage unit. That f...

It's A Long Story

It's been awhile since I have had the mental ability to write anything. I had started to write about the joys of being pregnant but 12 hours later I was headed to the hospital to have Addison. Since then life has been crazy and unpredictable...you know, everything that I love in life...NOT. This is a long story. If you feel like reading it you better grab a cup of coffee.  So here I am trying to write out the birth story of our sweet precious girl.  I had so many expectations on what Addison's birth was going to be like. I wanted to do most of my laboring at home. I wanted to then go to the hospital and give birth naturally with no medication. I wanted to see the look on Levi's face when he met Addison for the first time. I wanted to hold my baby the moment she arrived. I wanted friends and family to be able to come into the room and celebrate with us. I wanted to only be in the hospital for a day. But sometimes in life you don't get what you want. Sometimes you hav...
